2012 Audi A3 1.8T gearbox

Post by Jay_K »

Hi All,

My 2012 A3 1.8T DSG has started giving issues. Drove last night, no issues. Parked the car. Rinsed it this morning.

Reversed out, engaged D, and nothing. The gear selected started flashing. drive and sport werent selecting. Reverse was.

I disconnected the battery, the car selected D1 then D2.

Switched off, 20 mins later, no reverse. D1 selects(flashing though) drove to shop, car was skipping even gears, went from D1 to D3 to D5. Sport, the same, S1 to S3.

Ive tried "resetting" the DSG by holding the pedal in, but nothing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Get a diagnostic done.

Sometimes the gear selector lever get iffy and can give issues with selecting gears, but normally it requires mechatronics and a gearbox refresh.

Gearbox refresh? holding in the accelerator pedal for 20seconds?

tried that,

Does the 7 speed dual clutch require oil, or is it a sealed unit?

If the car is in reverse, it does not rev over 1200rpm,and it does not engage.

Take it to a Gearbox specialist- Little knowledge is dangerous.

That’s a 7 speed dry clutch, and not dual.

I might be a selector unit, Check if is displaying all the gears on the cluster. Otherwise replace gear selector unit.

Nope. I mean it needs a rebuild with new clutch set and actuators.

7 speed clutches are a total nightmare to set up right. Not even the dealers can do it right.
