POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
Hi guys i got a 2020 polo tsi, comfortline with DSG. Haven't driven a 1.0 tsi before this car so not sure if the car is performing normally or not.
I am finding the throttle response to be very sluggish! when I press the throttle from idle speed stop street or yield, it takes those milliseconds to respond and feels very sluggish (like the engine is almost going to stop)!! what could this be from?
It just doesnt seem right.

Re: POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
Hi, i have a 1.0Tsi comfortline.. there is a start stop feature which switches the car off at a stop.. takes a second or so to start up when accelerator is pressed.
The other thing is that these gearboxes are designed such that they change very quickly from 1st gear to 2nd...if you watch the gear changes its almost like the car takes off in 2nd gear hence that sluggish feeling.

Sorry, was referring to the OP. Trying to figure out whether there's some k's on that box and whether it could be needing a bit of a service.

Just out of curiosity, at what mileage should these boxes be serviced? According to the dealership the box does not need to be servic⁹ed.
Sorry for hijacking your thread OP but I'm sure you could also benefit from this information.

Re: POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
I'm leaning heavily on kingr's post here where it's mentioned that a DSG service should be performed at 60 000km/4 Years. This is, however, on the MK7 GTi's but might be worth getting done if there's an issue around that mileage. DSG service would entail DSG oil change and oil filter change.

Re: POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
Thanks for the replies guys.
1. Definitely know what start/ stop is and don’t ever use it anyway.
2. The car has about 22000 kms on the clock so pretty low.
I’m guessing it’s just very under powered and de- tuned too much, as the highline doesn’t have the same issue.
It’s just annoying to drive a car that doesn’t respond immediately to pressing on the accelerator, (wife’s car). I have to permanently drive it in sport mode not to be annoying.
Like I said maybe just underpowered for me as my personal daily driver is a 2.0L diesel bmw.

Re: POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
Ah. Ok this sounds more like a case of you needing to manage your expectations of the vehicle.
Incidentally I'm driving around in a 320D with autobox at the moment. It's slow off the mark and doesn't respond with vigour as I'd expect it to; but then again I'm comparing it against a G6 GTi so the comparison is really unfair.
Reckon you need to look at the car for what it is meant to be.

Re: POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
Thanks yeah I’ve just come to accept it now. Just felt weird that the throttle response would be that slow but it is what it is. Will wait on the warranty to pass then maybe do a remap for better performance.Reegz wrote:Ah. Ok this sounds more like a case of you needing to manage your expectations of the vehicle.

Re: POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
No worries. I assume you have a service plan on the car? Mention it when it goes in for service and see what the guys say. Doesn't hurt to ask.

The car is definitely underpowered.. these 3 pots are capable of some decent power figures from just a stage 1 tune...
My house is above road level, I can't climb up my driveway in the gear lever in D mode (and it's not even steep) i have to engage M1 to climb with ease. Quite annoying actually.
I can't wait to tune mine, also waiting for the maintenance plan to expire next year.

Re: POLO 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG, Throttle Response
I've driven the POLO AW 1.0 TSI Comfortline DSG - I agree it is very laggy and I too mostly drove the car in M to get more responsiveness.LMoodley123 wrote:Thanks for the replies guys.

Also had the Polo 6C 1.2TSI Highline DSG and it much more responsive in comparison.
