Hi everyone.
I've got a 2005 VW Golf 1 (1.4i) which suddely started wit a idling problem. It starts fine but the idling speed is very low which causes the engine to stop running. Now all of a sudden it won't idle at all. What can be the problem as I havd taken off thd throttle body and cleaned it but if still has the idling problem. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Also would it make a difference if I install a vernier pulley for a littel better performance or fuel economy. The motor is still standard

Re: VW Golf 1 (1.4i) idling problem
A Vernier cam pulley will not help improve anything.
It's single purpose is to accommodate the change in cambelt length when the block and head is skimmed for increased compression. In other words, it's there due to other MAJOR changes made to the motor internally.
As for the idling problem have you checked for air leaks on all the pipes attached to the inlet manifold. Also try changing the coolant temp sensor.
