Oil leak golf 7 gti
Hi. So I recently took my car in for a rear main seal repair. Had to go in twice as I found oil leaking again. Mech apparently didn't clean bell housing after closing up. Anyway, had the car parked off for a while after the repair. This week I find oil again however not from the rear main seal. It seems to be from a pipe front left passenger side of the car, just under the bumper. See attached. I took a pic and mech says this is normal and it's the boost pipes that sweats. So I clean it, still not convinced, and today it is leaking again. He says that normally these pipes are cleaned after each service. Please can someone verify this? Never had this on my previous GTIs and never heard of this.

Re: Oil leak golf 7 gti
If that is oil coming from the boost pipe, then either the engine is breathing excessively or the turbo is leaking oil into the compressor side..
I would not call that amount of oil "normal".
Pull the breather pipe off the top of the turbo inlet elbow and have a feel in the pipe to see if it is excessively wet.

OK. So can i open this pipe to see if it has oil inside?I'm not sure if this is dripping from somewhere else onto this pipe.THANAS wrote:Looks to be a boost pipe.Drift Devil wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:56 am What pipe is this though that has the oil?

Re: Oil leak golf 7 gti
Clean the whole engine bay with a decent engine cleaner, take it for a drive and then check where the oil is leaking from.

Mech checked the car and said that it's the boost pipe and is normal. He cleaned it. Will monitor. This is the first time in hearing this and never had this on my previous 3 gti's

Re: Oil leak golf 7 gti
How many km's are on the car?
Never had oil on my boost pipes, only had that with a previous car that had over 300k km's and plenty blow-by.

Re: Oil leak golf 7 gti
Me again... Car is at 62xxxkm and picked up another small oil leak. It's not leaking from the boost pipe anymore or RMS but more towards the driver side. Can't figure it out, need it to be raised. I have lost confidence with my mech. Any reliable mechs in and around Midrand.

Yup. Also want to sell her and either get a clean g7 or maybe an R. This one was certainly abused in its previous lifeJet Li wrote:Please change him. Oil leak is a worrying factor. Hope you get sorted soon
