Cooling System Issues, Polo Vivo 2012 1.4

Post by zalien »

Hi

I would like some assistance. My car hit me with the temp warning light, whilst driving. I check the coolant reservoir boiling crazy. It happend again few days later. Lately it hits me with the temp warning light for low level of coolant. I use water though. My temp gage works fine, but am not sure about fan.
Please help.
Thanks.

I am wondering if you don't need to change your coolant temp sensor. Its normally a 5 minute job.

Is that the same sensor that leads to the erratic temperature gauge? I remember my 9n Polo used to sometimes give low coolant warnings first thing in the morning when it was cold but I think that was a bottle level sensor?

The same one, I can't remember having my coolant boiling away when mine gave grief though. That sensor is cheap to buy and easy to install though. SO maybe start there and see if that helps before checking fan switch and thermostat.

The 9N thermostat was a nightmare to change.

Yeah, my brother had the erratic gauge issue a few years back.
