Good day gents,
So recently I've been picking up this fault after the car has been running well for a while.
Cambelt service done recently with mechanical Tensioner, also did Sump service, cleaned pick up, replaced Oil pump, VVT gear and chain last year.
How do I go about finding out what is the culprit here ?
Could it be either of the sensors and how can I test them on VCDS ?
Can the timing be out, although I am not convince as I have done only around 5000kms since the cambelt was changed, and it has the mechanical tensioner as well, so its unlikely that it jumped a tooth ?
What are the other sources of this error code ?
The car runs smooth under 3k rpm, but hesitates under boost and feels a bit flat, also when reversing out my yard its very sluggish.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

First start will be to check timing. Both crank to exhaust cam on the belt and exhaust to intake cam on the chain.
What do you mean by the vvt gear? Do you rather mean the chain tensioner?

Yes, VVT Tensioner.Killerwatt wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 3:13 pm First start will be to check timing. Both crank to exhaust cam on the belt and exhaust to intake cam on the chain.

Its unlikely that the timing is out, although the error code suggests this.
I will double check that all the timing marks line up over the weekend.
I'm hoping its an easy fix, although with these cars, nothing ever is ...

17748/P1340/004928 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation
Possible Causes
Timing Belt/Chain incorrectly installed
Timing Chain probably lengthened
Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty
Engine Speed Sensor (G28) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Timing Belt/Chain installation
Use Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) to Check Timing Chain
Check/Replace Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
Check/Replace Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
Special Notes
When found in the 1.8T engine, check engine oil pressure. The oil pump pickup may be restricted.
When found in the 1.8T engine (possibly others too), check to make sure the correct G40 is installed (single gap versus 4 gap).

Thanks for the input.
Any ideas how to log Measuring blocks on vcds to further streamline this fault finding exercise?

Turned out the cambelt was worn and was over tightened.

Huh? thought "Cambelt service done recently with mechanical Tensioner," ?
