Synthetic Oil - PGTi

Post by jaunrothner »

Hello All,

Please dont crucify me for asking this question but as a new GTi owner I want to know why the GTi's use synthetic oil instead of normal oil?

And is there any "special" maintenance needs or "do's and dont's" for vehicles using synthetic oil?

Thanks for the help :hi:

Synthetic is a higher performance oil. Especially related to heat, giving better protection for longer.

What pgti is it?

What you need to ensure is that the oil you use complies to the relevant vw spec. eg 504, 502, etc.

This would be of more importance than the base oil being mineral, semi-synthetic or fully synthetic.
