Mkv Gti balance shalf removed
Hi everyone,
I hope I can get some advice. I did the oil pump conversion on my car, my factory oil pump finally gave up on me and before it could take my engine out I removed it as the issues became worse and worse.
What are the pros and cons?
I know it’s a bit late to be asking that lol however I am curious to know if there is any long term side effects that would happen to my car.

Just a rougher operating engine, and the side effects of unbalanced harmonics = famine, disease, despair. Most likely just increased wear on all NVH related components, like engine mounts and the like. Better than having no oil pressure

Re: Mkv Gti balance shalf removed
Lol thanks for that.
Can I maybe put stronger mounting in?? Like revo or have the mounts polyurethane..
Could that help? The vibration is crap and I only drove it once and I noticed it right away.

Removed it on a friends car. No issues whatsoever after 50k km since it was done.
if you put a harder mount in you will feel it more. Are you sure you disabled both shafts and not just one. On his car I could not even tell the difference and neither on any of the cars we did the 1.8 t pump conversions.

Re: Mkv Gti balance shalf removed
Thanks for the reply Panic, well the guy that did it I’m assuming he removed the entire thing cause the pump is in my boot with my sprocket that was cut off. I don’t feel anything when I’m driving. It’s only when I’m on idle then I feel the vibration.
What I can say, after the conversation was done. On a cold start I get no clucking or metal knocking for a second or 2 before it goes away. Now it’s a straight hummm with the vibration. I can post a video. I was silly I should’ve done it before I did the conversation.

Also my car got all his power back. The car was lagging and power wasn’t always there. But now it’s a big difference.

Re: Mkv Gti balance shalf removed
Did you do a balance shaft delete or a 1.8t pump conversion? Sprocket must be left alone. Gear on shaft must be cut off.

Re: Mkv Gti balance shalf removed
ok so basically not balancer delete. With a balancer delete you use that same pump but cut the drive pulley to the shafts. 1.8 t conversion is just that - a completely different pump. I must say on the cars we did it I really could not feel any serious vibration.

Oh I see, I didn’t know there was a difference to be honest. Well I feel some vibration though. Well I been driving it for just over a week now so basically getting use to the vibration.
Well Panic thanks for the advice bud, really appreciate the help I get from these groups.

Hi.
Any update on your vibration issue? Have you figured out what it is?

Re: Mkv Gti balance shalf removed
Hello my names Ever. I own a 2006 gti mk5. So to start with I have a low compression on all my 4 cylinders. I know the right amount should be 200 or less. I been wanting to do piston and piston rings change but without removing the engine. Does anyone know how to do it without removing engine or is it Necessary to remove it?
Any tips would work thank you

Re: Mkv Gti balance shalf removed
Remove the engine.
To do a "top and tail" will end badly in your case. Low compression on all cylinders tells me you have seriously hurt your engine and will most likely need to bore the block out and install new pistons to match.
