Inner cv joint on vw golf 5

My problem is I am driving vw golf 5 gti dsg and today I had problems while driving the car,I heard sound coming from the gearbox and I was about to overtake the car in
front of me and suddenly the car start making a huge sound like it is on neutral gear while I am pressing the accelerator .I parked outside the road to see what is wrong only to find that the front wheels are not moving and even if you put your gear to reverse it doesn't move and I heard people passing from the road saying check the inner cv joint,but I am not machanic I just checked it and the righten side inner cv joint was broken so I am asking according to your knowledge,cab the inner cv joint affect other parts if broken?tell me more about inner cv joint and how much it can cost.

Hi. It shouldn't have caused any other issues. Happened to a friend of mines tdi. I'll have to ask what it cost but phone up the nearest continental or one of thoes places. They should be able to give you a quote.
