I think the Polo Gti will be more fun. Space wise it's actually not that bad at all. I'm not sure about the Golf comfortline, I've never driven one

New Polo GTi for sure.

Its new model with fresh looks and engine, and will of-course get a face-lift within 5 years and value will take a reasonable fall. Basically Polo looks better & will retain value more than the face-lifted MK7 golf which will soon be replaced by MK8 and take a serious fall.

You are basically asking other people's opinion of what you like and basically almost no two people has the same taste or opinion. Once you have driven them pick the one you like most. You have to live with it, not us.

You Decide , but these are the huge deciding factors between the two cars ,

big or small car - Do you need the space? although Golf is only marginally bigger.
Performance or no performance?
Low or high fuel consumption?
Would imagine that'll you save a few pennies choosing the golf mentioned.

IMO a Golf will always be the better, safer and more refined car with more space, standard features, better NVH and things like multilink rear suspension. Get a TSI Golf and spec it with an R-Line kit to make it look good.

Ditto

The Golf 7.5 TSI's retail at the same price as 2016 and 2017 Golf GTI - fully specced even more

So you can have 162 to 169kw fully specced car for a price of a Golf Tsi. Theres Golf 7 GTI's under 20000km (with maintenance and warranty) everywhere now as most owners decided to trade in for 7.5

I like your points.

I guess it boils down if the OP wants performance power or not.
