10K budget might be not enough. Maybe if you have the Dicktator already. Dicktator will take a large chunk (1/3 of the 10k) budget if you still need to buy one.

Fuel pump and other items will eat up rest of the 10k very quick.

10k times 3 will get the job done even if you DIY 90% of it.

Thanks for the advice guys well received. My plan was to get the diktator in the 10k budget but that's a bust. I got excited when my gearbox from the citi bolted on like a glove to the adr. Any advice on what I can do with the adr. Motor has brand new internals don't want it to go to waste.

To extract more oomph from a naturally aspirated motor gets exponentially more expensive as you gain power and torque.

The ADR is rated at 120 something Hp and 170 something Nm at the flywheel. Getting any more out of it will cost big money.

Thanks for that info Im not really going for speed and immence power its just that my 1.6 carb is on its way out and seeing I have the adrmotor laying around I figured why not put it in, guess it's not really worth it then. Gumtree here I come.

you never really said if you are doing it yourself.

If you are very handy and can wire and mech the cost changes hugely.

another important question is how much of a hurry are you in, ie can the car stand for a month?

IF you can fully DIY you might be able to do it with that budget. BUT i have never fitted one into a mk1 with a stock manifold. I have no idea if that will even clear the radiator so you are in kind of school fees area and might find all kinds of snags that I'm not even beginning to be aware of.
So the stuff you are going to have to do is
1) buy dictator
2) buy tank and fuel pump
3) some hoses and a high pressure fuel filter.
4) no sure what you going to do for intake - cone filter?.
5) throttle cable?. no idea if current one will reach / fit / work.
6) possibly clutch upgrade
7) water pipes / radiator etc etc. will need a rethink.
8) New exhaust manifold / downpipe / system as the 1.6 one will be restrictive if stock.
9) lots of little things one forgets or not even think off when you start. Is it complete with alternator / belts/ brackets etc. etc. on that side of the motor or is there an aircon and power steering pump sitting there that you have to drop?.

And then I'm not sure why this is in the foced induction section?. ADR is a naturally aspirated 20v?. Were you thinking of turbo charging it on top of just fitting it and using it in it's N/A form?.

Panic everything you've mentioned helps a lot and clears my understanding of what is needed, I'm happy with the car standing for a week or so. I have a fuel pump and hp hoses and filter. For the intake I'm thinking of using the intake from the AUQ motor. For the exhaust a friend is going to build me a custom manifold and pipe. For the rest I'm doing it all myself. Ive got more than average knowledge and tools to take on the task.

For the last bit about my post being in the forced induction section, I'm baffled guess it's a newbie mistake. My plan is that after a year or so I'd like to turbo the motor in time for my midlife crisis. I want to save for it. Im prepared for school fees. And by what you've mentioned I'll be the first to do this mod. I'll have to document and record the process to share in future.

If you want to go turbo later, just get a 20V-T motor from the start. No use in spending double on that motor transplant in the long run.
Save up some more now and do a 20V-T transplant now and save yourself another expensive motor build in converting the ADR to a turbo setup.

There is a reason for the long intake. If you drop that you are going to have a very lazy motor that needs revving already more than they were already.
Unless you spend almost full time on this I suspect it's gonna stand for a bit longer than a week.

AUQ uses a drive by wire throttle body. You need a cable operated throttle body.
