2L tfsi engine weird 5/6th gear behavior

Post by DeV ZA »

Hi so my Audi TT seems to be struggling with overtaking on highways

In 5th gear the car starts breaking up from 5k rpm and in 6th it does it from 4K rpm

It feel electroning and the car kinda jitters a small bit kind of like a rev limiter feel but not as violent...
It also doesnt allow me to keep accelerating until i let the speed drop to 120kmh or sometimes 100kmh

It does not do this in any other gears just in 5th and 6th

Any suggestions to what it could be?
Some people said maf and others say coilpacks

Have not yet had time to check error codes

It is always hard to say but usually 1 of about 3 reasons.
1) coil pack or coil packs. You can get replacements at GW for around R700. generally you will find a missfire counter when you look at vcds which will tell you which cylinder/s it is. common issue.
2) low pressure fuel pump. Need vcds to low LP fuel and see what it delivers.
3) HP fuel pump or lifter. again need vcds - log HP fuel and see if it gets to specified. LP failure will cause HP not to reach specified so if any doubts about LP fix that first.
