Mk5 GTI Electrical fault

Post by Riyaadhsaley »

Hey guys.

A while ago, water entered the can bus gateway module of my car, causing the electronics to malfunction. The car wouldn't even start. I removed the water and air dried the board and everything was fine. Apparently the windscreen water drain pipes are clogged and this caused it. Now, the radio will receive power but not switch on sometimes, the number plate light works on some days and and half of my rear light is not working. Is it possible that water went into another box that could be affecting these electronics? If not, what could be the problem?

Are any fault codes reported? Maybe worthwhile to have a scan done to see if any are stored?

well that same same can gateway could still be causing your issue.
