Polyurethane filling Engine Mounts

Post by P1LAYA-ZN »

Good Day gents,

Just wanted to know if anyone has done this and can comment on the vibrations after fitment, is it really that bad ?
How is the drive ?
This appears to be the cheapest alternative to replacing old/damaged mountings.
R500 (Poly) Vs R5000 OEM Vs R1500 GW (Topran)
These prices are for my S3 8L. Still deciding what to do here.

Thanks.

I have experience on two cars which the mountings was changed with Poly.
Nissan Primera, rattle was there but it was drivable.
Mazda 6. Only did one mounting and feels like the car won't even be able to drive a km. Rattles so much that you can't take a call when you driving. Not that you should.

Rather look for a second hand mounting if you really want to save money

It all depends on what hardness the mountings are filled with, and this can be adjusted to your specification.

I filled my gearbox mount on the MPS with 80 and there was a very slight increase in vibration over the old worn out mounts.

I too have already done Poly in Lower Control Arm Bushes, ARB as well as dogbone mount insert, and I cant really tell if there is more vibration, its negligible.
I think the main 2 Engine Mountings will be more prone to causing vibration than the others, if filled with Poly.
Anyone in Durban has it on their cars?
Would love to go for a drive and see how it feels before I do mine.
Not really too concerned with slight vibration.
