1.4tsi info

Post by georgie »

Tried searching but cant find the info i need.

What are the "better" 1.4tsi motors? From what year, or what engine codes are the better motors?
I know about the twincharge motor issues, and i think the older 90kw tsi's were problematic too, but apparently the revised turbo only motors had alot less issues.

Also, are there any common issues on these later motors?

Any help guys :hi:

These motors are confusing :???:

Are all the chain driven tsi's problematic?

Which year did they switch to the "longlife" timing belt?

These are both 2012 Jetta 1.4 tsi motors. Looks like more than just different engine covers happening here...

They are different generation TSI motors, Still 1.4 and there many variants from gen to gen.

First gen was chain driven, AFAIK - not sure what year it was stopped.

Some of them run crazy compression with crazy boost, then others have design flaws , while some needs good quality fuels to prolong it's lifespan.

It's really luck of draw , I've seen some at 200k without problems while others broke as early as 30k mileage
