GOLF MK2 9a engine conversion not working properly

Post by mantis97 »

Hello, after engine rebuild and swap to my golf engine only works with opened inlet manifold hole on the right side and engine works on 3k rpm. Then I hit throttle pedal, engine stalls. Metering head rubber installed.
Where should I look for issue? Thanks!

Sorry for my bad english.

Uhm - you need to start by supplying a lot more info. IE was this a stock mk2 with K-jet or is this a new install or exactly what happened etc. you expecting an answer to a problem we can't even begin to understand.

Sorry, before it was 1.8 90hp engine, now it's 2.0 16v CIS Motronic. Engine originally from passat b3 2.0 16v with CE2, golf mk2 CE2 too.

So did YOU install the k-jet into the mk2. Did you move everything over ie. tank, both pumps, all the fuel lines. did you check the fuel pressure - have you checked for leaks between the Throtte body and the k-jet flap. really try to be helpfull with info instead of us having to pull teeth to try and fiuger out the setup and what have you tested and not tested.

Yes, I installed k-jet and moved entire wiring harness exept one blue and white which connects to motronic pin 2. How about fuel pumps, I moved only one which is under car, fuel lines all connected. I didn't notice any leaks, and didn't check fuel pressure.

Mk2 has two pumps. There is a lift pump in the tank which feeds the acumulator under the the car where the main pump sits.
Without that the main pump cannot draw fuel from the tank as it was not designed to. So you have a fuel starvation situation. You have to move the tank and lift pump from your source car.

a lift pump left from 1.8 90hp, is this pump inappropriate?

I don't know which engine that is or what management it had as again like I asked you supplied no detail.
you are clearly not in south africa and we often had different setups. If the car was Originally an 8v with K-jet then yes fine the lift pump should work.
