Golf 7 R not shifting properly

Post by TMG1GP »

Hi guys, my 2015 Golf 7 R has been acting weird lately. Whenever I put it on sport it doesn’t shift like it used to, I’m not sure what could be wrong but to be specific it takes a second before it shifts and it sort of has a hiccup just before every ****, it makes the car a bit slower for that 1 second. It also shows me the traction light a lot even when my wheels aren’t spinning.

I really don’t know what could be wrong, it started earlier this year and I’ve been ignoring it since

On sport when accelerating it revs all the way up and then the hiccup happens then it shifts, mostly from 1 to 2

If its not "tjoooned" and still under warranty get it to your dealer ASAP. Dont know what a Mechatronic unit costs for that car. . .

Have the car scanned for any faults and then go from there. Mine has a slight hesitation every now and then but I drive Miss Daisy most of the time.

It started like that, it used to be every now and then. Last year November I crashed my C63S so i started using the Golf regularly throughout the whole December and by March it’ got worse I even stopped putting it on sport, last night I was racing an S3 and I had to go sport, at that moment I realized my car is not okay.

Get the car scanned and go from there but it sounds like a mechatronics unit issue.

When does the traction light come on? On take off, or when the hesitation occurs at gear change from 1 to 2?
I know you mentioned that your issue occurs in Sport mode, but does it shift normally in *manual and drive mode when subjected to hard acceleration?

*Shift the gearbox to Sport first, then go into manual and see if the hesitation occurs.

On that mileage a flush and fresh oil should have been done atleast once in its lifetime. Should have been done on a 90k service. See if you can find history on your car or in its service records. If it wasn’t done before dig in your pockets and get it done before you need to dig deeper through those burning pockets to replace a gearbox.

Dsg service is every 60 000km so it should have been done at 120 000km. Do a scan and see what errors come up. Oil change may be the fix.
