Since 6 months ago, my car started misfiring.. this is about 2 months after I had a downpipe fitted, along with an K&N intake
Anyways, misfire was first noticed when de-acclerating from <= 2000RPM. It's small pops, audible from the inside as well.
Car was still running on stock software back then. I had tuning done 2 months ago hoping it fixes the misfire but obviously did not.
Had a service last month, didnt mention the issues to the mechanic as the misfiring is difficult to replicate as it's completely random.
All basics was checked and replaces at your usual service, the misfiring still consisted but not as frequently.
Yesterday, upon cold start, car was idling very rough. Some dips below 500rpm iirc. While idling so badly, black puffs as smoke were coming out at the back. I had to drive quick so couldnt switch off and investigate. I probably drove about 200m then the car stalled with the battery light.
I checked the battery already via a multimeter. All seems well.
I have a vagcom cable and software, no faults found either.
Plugs and all other small usual things were checked at the service.
Does anybody had a similar experience and what was the solution?
I have really no idea what to check anymore, except taking the car to the mechanic to do his own (expensive af) troubleshooting
Milage is on 108k now
Any help appreciated!

Re: G6 TSi 90kw misfire
yeah always hard to guess. But usually it means broken piston. let him start with a compression test.

Re: G6 TSi 90kw misfire
1.4 tsi on idle or while driving log misfire errors. Plugs and coils are ok? Injectors replaced or ok?
Remove intake and check / clean intake ports due to carbon build up , replace or sonic clean injectors if comp and other stuff correct.
Due to driving cycles of some of the car there is carbon build up on the piston and injector tips as well as in the intake ports causing the fuel spray pattern to be incorrect or air mix not to be correct. This affects the the burn pattern so to speak and car picks it up as misfire.
Also please be a wear that 1.4tsi on cold start in standard form had a misfire due to timing retard and a leaner mix caused a misfire that you can hear in the exhaust and some times air-box. If you change the exhaust etc it can easy change those dynamics too.

Re: G6 TSi 90kw misfire
Hi g60 golf
Thanks for your informative post!
I need to check the coils and injectors still.
Diagnostics does not pick up any error codes, however there's multiple misfire counts on all cylinders.
Have not done a carbon cleanup yet, that will be the next on the list after replacing injectors.

Re: G6 TSi 90kw misfire
Verdict
Car was at the mechanic today.
Cylinder1 is running +-1bar less than the other 3 cylinders. Possibly due to rings, piston crack or something else he mentioned.
I had an oil leak, apparently related to the rings as well. He mentioned its the main bearing "something"
My turbo is leaking a bit of oil as well.
Add all of that up for labour and parts. :/ Not worth it.
Gonna sell the car and 'downgrade' to something else.

Re: G6 TSi 90kw misfire
There are allowable tolerances on compression pressures, i would check a workshop manual for more info on that.
A 1bar difference really giving such crap? In my opinion its difficult to digest that as the cause.

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on
