MKV GTI Issues

Post by Jacques1397 »

Hi Guys

2007 BWA MKV GTI K04

I have the following issues I cannot seem to resolve, however the car runs fine in cold circumstances I noticed, but during the day when its generally hotter I get the issue where is sluggish to boost and only boost half of what it should. Scanned the car and the following came up :

000665 - Boost Pressure Regulation
P0299 - 002 - Control Range Not Reached
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 01100010
Fault Priority: 0
Fault Frequency: 4
Reset counter: 255
Mileage: 181767 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2000.00.00
Time: 17:12:00

Freeze Frame:
RPM: 4697 /min
Load: 67.8 %
Speed: 94.0 km/h
Temperature: 92.0°C
Temperature: 33.0°C
Absolute Pres.: 930.0 mbar
Voltage: 13.970 V

012555 - Low Pressure Fuel regulation
P310B - 002 - Fuel Pressure Outside Specification - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00100010
Fault Priority: 0
Fault Frequency: 4
Reset counter: 255
Mileage: 181768 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2000.00.00
Time: 17:12:03

Freeze Frame:
RPM: 6828 /min
Load: 71.7 %
Speed: 138.0 km/h
Temperature: 91.0°C
Temperature: 36.0°C
Absolute Pres.: 940.0 mbar
Voltage: 13.716 V

The following has been replaced / Checked :

DV - Rev H
Boost Leaks checked and fixed issues
Plugs (Brand New)
LPFP (Brand New)
Fuel Filter (Brand New)

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated - Was thinking to check play on actuator arm, although last time checked it was perfect, with no play, maybe the vacuum line on the N75 ?

I noticed also there is a metalish noise when driving, sounds like something is loose, cant seem to find the place where, comes from Motor side, and after a hard launch or spirited driving, depressing clutch as if you want to stop, car dies. Have to restart again. Can notice on idle also that the Vacuum on the boost gauge drops from -19 to -20 and jumps the whole time, also noticeable when listening to the cars idle

Thanks

Sorry forgot to mention. Follower also checked, brand new HPFP with a brand new Autotech upgraded pin for higher fuel pressure to accommodate the mapping for the K04

but it tells you it's short on low pressure fuel. That will starve the HPFP. That clattery noise of course could be a nice little detonation but hard to guess on noises

Correct, but what else. Everything is basically brand new. Only happens in hot conditions though. On cold nights she runs perfect.

Noticed if I unplug the MAF sensor she doesnt idle that bad, still noticeable jumping a lil up and down but doesnt die when you come to a stop in hot conditions after a hard drive.

I dont know what else it can be anymore since basically everything has been checked and in most cases replaced and brand new

You know that there is a PWM controller thatbruns the rear pump? They also get dodgy with time.
Don't guess at these things. Pull logs or look at the low pressure fuel delivery. It displays it for you in vcds. At WOT you must still have over 5 bar.

Thanks Panic. Will pull logs again. I see on idle it sits at 4bar. Will pull logs and run until red line in 3rd to pull proper log and analyze from there.

Although with previous log it ran a diffrence of 12 bar at some stages on the HPFP. Will do a proper log tonight and see where we at.

The fact that the hpfp is lagging most likely means lpfp is not enough. Is the filter on the lp side 6 bar?

Yes 6.6 bar fuel filter. Tested with OEM pump amd a brand new pump from Goldwagen. Both the same issue. I put back the OEM pump.

Would the PMB cause an issue in hot conditions where it gets too hot ?

As said we had a few runs at 22h00 at night about 16 or 18 degrees outside temps and car ran fine and better than ever 4 runs in a row.

Next day outside temps 25 to 30 after a short drive issue immediatly started. No power, as if it doesnt get enough fuel, dies when returning to idle at some stop signs.

Will run logs and compare.

Log 103 106 and 115.
Depending on who mapped car the low boost error will come up but not affect the car as most tunners ask for 2500 mmbar from 1800 rpm so error is present but does not affect car. What hpfp do you have in and what injectors?

Have a look at the logs see whats the fuel pressures and see the boost pressure.
From the logs you will see if its rear and front that drop or just front with a constant rear pressure.

Hi Guys

Managed to pull some logs, to me the boost pressure looks fairly on point, no major difference, might be due to the drop in fuel pressure. I see the fuel pressure dropping as low as 2.7 bar on high rpm, once off the throttle it catches up again to 5 / 6 odd bar. Seems like it doesn't delivery the fuel when it should. Dont know how to attach logs, here is a screenshot

Difficult to see, but forgot to log RPM as well. This was a pull in 3rd gear. Log was started at around 2000rpm and ended at rev limit

Low pressure fuel is going away - so despite the fact that you say you changed the pump you are losing it.
So either your map is way too aggressive and is asking for more than it can supply or the pump is too iffy and you need an upgrade or the PWM controller is kaput.

Might be thinking the same thing. It has this issue with the brand new low pressure fuel pump and the OEM one. Weird indeed.

Whats the ods the low pressure fuel sensor screwing around? Might need to get a working PMB amd test that aswell Image

Logs sent to the Tuner lets see what he also says
