Kr oil issues

Post by da joker »

Hi guys it's been awhile, I need some help on my project.
Current setup is stock kr, running some boost.
The issue I am having is there is to much oil coming from the sump breather, I have a pipe from the sump breather directly to a catch can, from the catch can I have a drainage back to the sump.

The catch can does has of a vent for the pressure to be released , however under boost, it's spraying the oil out the oil catch vent. Couldn't fit a small filter on the catch can, so used some perforated material in the mean time.

Need help guys
Im not driving fast.....im flying low !!!

Too much boost
Too much bore clearance
Collapsed rings (from overheating)
Broken ring
Broken piston

Any one of the above.

If it's a stock KR internals drop compression after addressing the issues panic suggested above.

The car doesn't smoke, only puff under boost, currently boosting 0.8.

Any way around this panic, drop boost to 0.5?, increase the drainage size, on the catch tank? It is a lot smaller than the intake?

Drop the compression ratio, have it tuned properly, then boost the crap out of it to your hearts content.

I must cocncur with the above, drop the compression

i am currently running a KR setup in my golf 3 gti, running 1.0 bar boost with lowered compression (9.35:1) no oil leak issues

i found the quickest fix to the compression lowering issue was fitting the 1.8t passat pistons (AGU) in the standard 1.8 KR block with stock rods, and crank ( try get the rods from the 1.8T motor as well)

as a side note: fit a oil cap/Tapet cover breather from the new vw bug to your tapet cover to assist with breathing, and plumb that to your crank breather, and then in to your oil catch can ( works a charm, ill post a pic of mine if i get Photobucket to work)

hope this helps

denfinitely is, but try leave on vent on the catch can venting to atmosphere

given your current over pressure you may just pop the breather hoses off of the catch can, my breather from tappet and block are connected via a T piece, and then to the catch can

and then one vent to atmosphere from the catch can

Agree with others, compression drop required.

What size piping to the breather bottle is installed?

Do you have the large splash plate clipped on the oil pump pick up?
