MAF or Throttle Body Faulty?

Post by AirborneZA »

Hi

Passat 2.0 TSI (B6 - 2009) So suddenly yesterday EPC light comes on and car runs very rough .. if I turn it off and on it's fine as long as I am very VERY gentle on the throttle - as soon as I fule it more, EPC light comes on and the rev counter jumps around like 18 year old rave bunny ... it's a bit better if I go into manual gear changes but still stutters.

Got it scanned to day (I now know where to take it) and the 1st thing that pops up is MAF error (P0101 - Implausible signal) and after that, related I guess, I got Random Misfire (P0300) and Cyl 1 (P0301) as well as Cylinder Disabling (P130A) and then MAF (P0100 Supply Voltage) again ....

They cleared the codes - restarted car and errors where gone, took it for the drive same symptoms ... removed and cleaned Throttle Body with EGR, removed and cleaned MAF sensor with same .... still problem exists.

Wierd thing is liek it's narrowed down to between 1800 to about 3000 rpm .. anything below and above that it goes OKish but not right .....

double trouble. Change the coil on cylinder one first- then clear errors. If the maf comes back again change that too.

UGH !! Thanx - So I'll change coil 1 and 2 around tonight, and stop at the guy tomorrow for confirmation that it's now giving errors on coil nr 2. If so, hello new coil pack ... and then check errors to see if MAF is still acting up ?

or just get one anyway. They are a pretty common failure.
