MK5 gti "Rev hang"

Post by Dale »

Hi guys,

Been in exile for a while.

I need assistance with a weird issue. Basically as topic states, the rpm doesnt drop instantly when changing gears, as if it hovers around 1500 - 2000 rpm for a few seconds

Anyone have any idea what could cause this? Would a throttle adaptation cause this?

No other abnormalities with VCDS.

Mods include:

Engine - BWA
ITG intake
Software, done - unknown.
Manual transmission
Full Exhaust - rear silencer kept.

Thank you.

Clutch switch. Does it have cruise control. See if it engages - if not replace the clutch switch.

Panic... how big of a job is it to replace the switch?

My manual R has the rev hang every now and then... this after I replaced the PCV.

Similar to a brake switch.
Edit- mm no the audis had it on the pedal. Some of the golf might have the switch on the gearbox.

Mine was the Clutch Switch - Panic also gave me the advise to replace
My Cruise control wasn't engaging. I have a 2007 G5 GTI - You buy a new clutch master cylinder from Goldwagen , and it clips into the Clutch pedal from the Firewall. You need to remove the whole master cylinder and replace it. Bleed the clutch again and all sorted. Quite a mission if you dont have the correct tools , specially to get the clips back into the pedal.
