Re: My 16v build, continued
Send your clutch in to norbrake so they can make a 4 puk solid button clutch out of it and maybe dual-diaphragm pressure plate should sort your slipping issues.

This I cannot tell you. Mine was done for around R1600 3 years back and still going strong. I do have to replace my pressure plate some time.

Get these spline sockets, size12, 8 and 6.ob wan wrote:Seems i damaged 2nd gear, making a noise but still drives, any tips before attempting to open up the gearbox?
5th gear, mainshaft bearing retainer and CV joints use these sockets.
Oh also get an assistant, 5th gear is fracking tight, someone must hold the box still while you crack the bolt loose with the power bar.
The rest is too long to explain in one post. So if you have a little money, drop the box off with Oom Poy at 8V developments and let him sort you out.

Re: My 16v build, continued
from what I gather on brokevw.com, all vw 22mm mainshafts have the same 1st and 2nd gear which is machined to the shaft?

Re: My 16v build, continued
had my first hick-up with the box, selector locating screw seized... luckily I check it first before removing the gearbox
couldn't get it out of third gear so coasted home in 3rd...
nr2 in the pic below, funny thing is, the box feel fine without it?

Re: My 16v build, continued
update: my DIY double diaphragm pressure plate mod
straps will be made double aswell and the rivets are exactly 6mm, so might use m6 button head cap for that, big thanks to Rinus aka blueblob
input will be valuable, so please comment...
