Engine coolant issue
Howzit guys,
I've got a 2013 Polo 6R gti. On the way to work this morning the MFD showed "check engine coolant". I pulled off and opened the bonnet,
there must have been like 1cm of coolant left . So i drove to work quite slowly and managed to get here without any issues, opened the bonnet again and the coolant bottle is almost empty.
What could be the problem?

Re: Engine coolant issue
fill coolant and take to vw asap..
or get it towed to vw
its under warranty so you should even bother trying to diagnose yourself
issues like this can cause major problems later.
damaged head etc..

Re: Engine coolant issue
I got the car towed away, it was a leak somewhere in the engine as I saw a stream of coolant as the car was being winched onto the truck. Hope it's just a loose pipeJueshen wrote:fill coolant and take to vw asap..

Re: Engine coolant issue
Its most likely the radiator. There seems to be a problem with the bottom tanks cracking.
My old Polo 6R GTI also starting loosing coolant they replaced the radiator.

Mccarthy in Central Durbs always has a shortage of loan cars. I waited nearly 3 weeks in the "loan car" queue, before I booked in my G6 for repairs.

Re: Engine coolant issue
So this happened to me on Monday turns out most polo GTi 6rs have this it's a factory fault whereby the cowling vibrates trough the radiator (the story I was given by a service advisor.
The problem comes in whereby there are no cowlings available and have to be ordered from Germany at a time of 9 days.
Surprise surprise no loan cars either

Re: Engine coolant issue
Howzit guys I have a coolant leaking problem, I have a polo classic 2004 1.6 comfortline, i did my headgasket two months ago and replaced the cap from the expansion tank or water bottle as well, replaced my waterpump and thermostat a week ago, what happens is that when the car reached normal tempreture 90degress, the water level rises in the watertank or expansion tank then it runs out from overflow which is in the left hand side of the watertank and it looses coolant and in bumper to bumper traffic or idling point my revs goes up to 1000 and then the water level rises and then the fan goes on the water level drops and leaks again on the left hand side of the watertank by the overflow.please help this is trading me out.
