STD Dictator

Post by Revey Meyer »

Hi all

Compliments of the new year!! :hurray:

So i drive a 2009 MK1 - I recently came to find out that my car does not have its original computer box because i had endless issues with the car stalling and going through fuel pumps like crazy (3 a year to be exact) - it turns out the car has in a MK3 computer box probably fitted by the previous owner for an unknown reason - I bought the car from a dealership.

Long story short i decided to fit a STD Dictator (Due to the long term plans i have for the car) towards the end of December last year, the car has now been standing for the past 3 weeks since I'm battling to get it running well enough to get it tuned.

Now my problem is, the car starts and idles fine at around 850-950rpm with the dictator running map based however, when i apply throttle the car would go to about 1500rpm and then it will just lose power/sounds like its suffocating and then it will die - this is when i run it off a 1.6 8v map that i got from Dictator Specialist

I also wired up the TPS but when running throttle based it would start up and idle at approx. 2000rpm and over fuel like crazy with what would feel like a heavy misfire.

If i could just get it to run on Map for now and Throttle at a later stage i would be happy - or perhaps you guys have something else in mind...

Any help, advise or what i can perhaps look for would be much appreciated just to get the car to move well enough

Thanks in advance guys

Ah man, that sounds like a bad way to kick off the new year.

So with the base maps, as good as they are, you also need to ensure that your timing is sync'd - need an adjustable light for that.

Leave the dicktator on MAP not TPS if it's a stock motor and load a 2.0 8v map and see if the extra fuel helps it Rev up.

If that doesn't work, idle the car and adjust the distributor timing and try and Rev the car and check if you making any headway with it.
