2005 VW Velociti 1.4i Engine Rebuild

Post by Abominable_Snowman »

Hi guys

Hope everyone is well, hoping I can get some proper advice; My father-in-law has an 05' Velociti 1.4i. Long story short, the engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

Any idea on what it would cost to rebuild the engine and what would be required?

Another alternative we've considered was replacing the motor, however its proving to be extremely difficult to source one in decent shape. I know that it would need engine clearance and such, which isn't a major issue.

I just wanna make sure the wife's father has considered all his options before forking out any money.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Rebuild, I'm sure you could get away with about 7-10k depends on how far the rebuild goes.

One thing i learned is when wanting to rebuild or replace is that rebuild will always be a better option because you know exactly what was changed and that the job is done properly.

Getting another motor or buying an upgrade always comes with the cost that you dont know the actual condition of the bought motor. Unless its from someone you trust or a shop that rebuilds motors with proof of some sorts

Try your local Godwagen shops as they were selling brand new 1.4i sub assemblies at less than 5k a year or so back. You miight be lucky and find 1 somewhere still in stock.
