How do you know for sure that it is a Citi R-Line cam?

The cam has 272 engraved in it. It also has the VW and Audi symbols engraved on it.

the 272 is only a portion of the cam specifications. there are other factors also when designing and grinding a cam.

I know someone who raced a datsun in historics. Got a cam locally ground to 300 degree specs. It was a dog he said.
He then got a new 300 degree cam from Japan made by Nismo or Tomei. Can't remember which company as it is many years ago.
He said the lobes were different from the local ground one and the car could be driven daily in traffic without any issues.

Did you make ECU adjustments to let it "know" about the cam change?

Easiest and cheapest way to improve the performance would be to drop in a 2.0 8 valve motor. Spending that amount of money on a 1.4 to increase the performance by 5-10kW is a bit silly, in my opinion.

And some info, apparently the OEM R-Line cam VW part number is 17S 109 101.

Listen to what Jetta2 is saying. He has been long in the game and his statement makes plenty sense.
