Citi Sport fuel tank removal

Hi Guys,

Please help, is there a trick to get a 87 citi sport fuel tank out. I have dropped the entire sub-frame and detached the tanks straps and it aint moving an inch, am I missing something?

Filler neck removed?

Did you disconnect the filler neck and the connections under the rear seat?

Filler neck loose. I did not see any connections under seat, I need to take a closer look then

So under the rear seat there will be a round metal plate with 3 screws, lift that off and you should then see the fuel tank float, there should be 2 fuel lines and an electrical plug like so:



This shouldn't be holding the tank up but would need to be loosened to get the tank out. Once you've sorted there maybe give it some light percussive maintenance with a mallet.

One line should be a supply line and the other a return IIRC.

Its out just needed some encouragement. Seems I found my issue, the feed lines from the tank are the original lines from 1987 now completely perished so hence why no fuel was being moved between tank and carb/fuel pump. Clearly big vacuum leak going on.

Will be changing all rubber fuel lines from tank and around the back area of the car as a result. Hope to have the car driving again in no time.
