ECU after upgrade of Polo Mk5 engine

Post by cforrester »

Hi all,

I have a 2010 Polo Mk5 1.4 Comfortline. I recently overheated my 1.4 CLP engine and so I replaced it for a 1.6 CLS engine with only 55000km on it. I got for a steal (under R10K) and I was told that for the money, this was the cheapest way to get some extra power.

The car runs beautifully but the one complaint I have is that the car is underpowered below 4000rpm. I was told that this was because the ECU was mapped for a 1.4.

I would like to know if it is possible to remap an OEM ECU to 1.6 settings and if not, does anyone have a part number of the 1.6 ECU that I can look for a second hand one. I am aware that there is requirement for the immobiliser settings to be copied across to a replacement ECU so that my remote and key will still work but if the current one can be remapped, then I don't need to worry about that.

Thanking you in advance for any advice.
