Cluster issues on mk1 citi golf 1.3 carburetor

Post by Umesh01 »

Hi guys. This is my first time posting here on this forum. I’m hoping to get some help and advice from you guys. I just very recently bought myself an old 1992 mk1 citi golf 1.3 carburetor. This is my first citi golf that I have owned so please excuse my lack of knowledge. The car has some issues that I’m trying to work through. The first issue is with the cluster. When I turn the ignition on, the battery light comes as normal. The temp light stays on but very dim as well as the blue light for brights that stays on very dim. Stays like this even while driving. Now when I switch the head lights on, the temp light and blue light stay on. However when I put the brights on the temp light and the blue light goes off. The lights are working fine both the dims and brights. It is just that the temp light and the blue light stays on while driving and when I switch the head lights on and put the brights on the temp light and blue light goes off even though the brights are working. The temp gauge is working, however the previous owner connected the radiator fan directly to an on off switch as the radiator fan switch is bad. Could this have something to do with the issues.
Please any help and advice will be appreciated. I really need to sort out these issues.
