Citi golf 1.6i 8v whine when revving

Hi guys so my citi golf has this annoying high pitched whining sound ( its not my gf I've checked :crazy:) it kinda sound like a motor so I've changed timing belt and tensioner the noise was still there so I changed water pump as it was squeaky when turned by hand put in the new water pump and the noise is still there even ran the car without fan belt and it has the noise help please

Hi, maybe the aircon belt bearing. I live on dirt road and bearing only lasts about 6 months and I get that whining when bearing needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Thanks Normangee but my ac belt has been out since forever coz the idler bearing failed and I have management (gotec) and it never worked after I installed management so I just left the ac belt out

could be cambelt tightened too much? they cant be too tight or too loose

Cambelt tension can be checked as follows:

On the longest section (between cam pulley and crank pulley at the front.of the motor), simply try twist it at the halfway point by hand. If you can easily twist it through 90 degrees without too much pressure, tension is fine.
If you have to apply quite a bit of pressure to twist it, it is too tight.

Thanks guys I've just checked the cambelt and its exactly like how jetta2 describes turns 90 degrees without too much pressure, could it be the gearbox?

Does it whine all the time?Only when in gear?when clutch is depressed?released?

It does it all the time, I also thought maybe it was the gear box but when the clutch is in the noise still persists. It's sound like a motor whine or when a fan turns I really am stumped. Also recently the engine is beginning to sound abit rowdy
