MK1 2L 20V NA swap

Post by Gideon9 »

Hi all.

I am looking at buying a 2L 20v (ALT) NA motor to install in a golf 1.

My current setup
2l 8v (2E)
FFZ Gearbox

I want to find out what is needed to fit the motor and where i can buy the parts from? (DRD?)

I have an O2A gearbox laying around that has not been installed yet. Will the O2A gearbox fit on the 20v (ALT) motor?

Yep

Get in contact with DRD and you get plenty of info from them.

I found this when I was doing research into same swap, but into a mk2.

But the notorious thin/prone to carbon build up, oil control ring issue (2006-2013 iirc?) , stopped that idea.
1l oil per 1000km "Normal" consumption on my A4 with same engine.

Frits or Hanz had babbelas that day
Really @isses me off that VAG sometimes let stoopid ideas like that go into production.
MK2's dont die, they just get faster!!
