Looking for a K-Jet Specialist in KZN

Post by VAS »

Hi Guys,

I really hope you can help me, I have had a few issues with my Mk2 Golf GTi, 1.8 16v KR of late, it has a K-Jetronic fuel system and I would like to take it to a mechanic that understands the Bosch K-Jetronic system so he can help me diagnose and tune up my car.

I am in KZN Durban area, and would appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of someone in the KZN region who is reputable, reasonable and knows what they are doing.

Thank you :driving:

Might help... I was willing to send my kjet to a specialist in JHB Ryan Uys to have it reconditioned as I thought i had a kjet problem until I discovered a vacuum leak /broken intake manifold gasket. Mace was the only company here in Cape Town willing to touch K-Jet but Ryan was super helpfull

But here is Ryan's details.
He caters for Bosch D, K and KE jet repairs. You can contact him to discuss. ryanuys@gam.co.za
He can bench-test your fuel distributor to properly confirm the diagnosis, and then he can repair as needed for you.
current: VW mk2 GTI

Update: Ryan is really clued up and has given me some advice, although it would still be best for me to get my vehicle up to JHB for him to do a proper assessment, problem is I don't feel comfortable driving it up with it in its current state, I'm still on the hunt for a mechanic in the KZN Durban area who is clued up on K-Jet. All suggestions welcome. Thanks

Hi guys, my search is over and I found a fantastic mechanic in KZN who did not flinch for a second when I mentioned the Kjet system, his name is Derrick from Palm Auto Service in Glen Hills, he’s semi retired now but makes his rounds when required, he got my car up and running and fine tuned my kjet system like a champ, anyone looking for an old school mechanic with all the right tools and equipment should look him up. Safe travels

I recently bought a Jetta mk2 Cli 1.8i. The problem is that this morning when I try to start the car. The car just swings and makes if it wants to starts but then the pump came on at the certain point when it wants to start. Then it just dies again.

What can be the problem?
