Car jerking under constant speed

Morning guys,

Need some guidance on a jerking issue.

Car jerks under constant speed. The jerks are intermittent, but goes away when i put my foot down. Jerking happens irrespective if the car's hot or cold.
It first started on the freeway when cruising. Could feel a slight jerk (like fuel starvation) every 4-5 seconds. Now it happens at low speed as well.
The only time I don't experience any jerking is when I drive with purpose.

The other thing I also experienced lately is when I'm stuck in traffic (especially when i'm standing in a drive through) and the car idles for too long, the car starts to sputter (like a heavy misfire). I then have to rev the car or drive hard to get it back to normal.

I hardly ever get any opportunity to take the car for diagnostics due to work and family commitments, but I know I must plan to do so.

if you could please provide some guidance in the meantime (anyone that experienced similar problem) would be much appreciated.

Car is a 2l8v ADY mk1 golf, mp9

Which MP9 firmware are you running with the 2L8v? 1.4 / 1.6 / 1.8 or the infamous Polo Cup firmware from Allan?
