My Citi Hates Rain

Hi Guys,
Please help, i have a 2007 Citi 1.4i (the only mods for now is a cone filter)
for some reason every time i hit a puddle of water, doesn't matter how big or small, my car starts to choke and then dies.
i have to wait 20-30 minutes for it to idle again. any suggestions on what it could be? or how i can fix it?

Check for a cracked coil or dodgy coil to distributor wire, as a possible cause

On my 95 polo, the issue happened twice.
Firstly, cracked coil pack... The spark would always take the wet route when wet. Was lucky enough to have it happen at night.
Secondly, cracked HT leads.
High spark voltages have a love and hate relationship with water, no matter the size of the puddle.
