2005 carb

hi all. i have a 2005 caddie van and the engine seems to over rev when changing gears, my thinking is that the auto choke is sticking, but being a first time owner i'm not sure. some advise would be nice

And if that doesn't help, lubricate the accelerator cable (if the car still has one) and the linkages on the carb.
