Citi 1.8 R-Line

Post by chrisg4 »

Hi guys,

a friend has a Citi R-line, which had a missfire, we removed the injectors and found them covered in thick oil, we cleaned them out and tested it. put them back but the car lacks power. Timing is right, the front pulley mark lines up with the arrow on the cover. Map sensor and fuel pressure regulator was replaced. any ideas what could be the issue?

Howsit dude

Did you check the vam shaft and dizzy timing as well all 3 of these has to line up at the same time!

Is the heavy on fuel?
Is the car blowing smoke?
Did you take the injectors in for ultra sonic cleaning?

Hi,

cam and crank line up, didn't check the dizzy...

no smoke, he did mention it was heavy on fuel.

we just used some carb cleaner... we ordered new replacement injectors.

will be testing the fuel pressure today.

Fuel pressure is around 2.8 bar at idle. When I rev it picks up to about 3.2 bar

Got the injectors. Will fit this weekend.

timing needs to be advanced to about 6deg, TDC is only your reference point, if car is set on TDC it will explain why the car feels lazy.
you need to plug into Vag diagnostic, put the car into timing mode and advance the timing with the dizzy to about 6deg using a timing light.
