Well, there goes the uniqueness, copy cat
Will still do the build regardless to your opinion. Not to suit anyone but myself. As for the copy cat idea, i am still concidering what will go where and what will be most practical and give the best desired effect.

I only asked for input and not negative feedback so please keep your show catching to your self and your audience.

Motor about R30k. GearboxR10k. Management R10k. Sodimication, mounts, sutpension, brakes, wireing etc R50-60k. All and all around R100k.

Electric wise the motor alone is about R100k not to speak of controllers and correct batteries and inport costs as our lovely country is not so advanced so we can source all the propper parts and accesories locally.

Sure, do whatever you want, I couldn't care less but you were the one claiming wanting uniqueness and wanting to go where no one has gone before hence my sarcasm that you missed. And as for not wanting negative feedback, this is the internet where you should expect any and all forms of feedback, so stop being an oversensitive, bubble wrapped snowflake.

I am talking about the topic at hand not your insight on my personality or tades so feel free to give some insight on the build and or keep it to your self. Some people just need to promote they'r self esteem by using social media, guess your one of them.

So for the sound only it simply is not worth the trouble.
Vr5 might be a better solution.
Again the reasoning behind it is a little iffy othr than the uniqueness thing. There are plenty 4cyl engines that will easily match them in HP.
Thanx for the input. I need to redo the nose part anyhow as the cradle was welded to the cross members by a baboon with a stick and mud so thaught while i was at it to klean up the front. Might aswell extend it and make it so the nose part or at least the cradle part of it, could be removed for easy access. Just have to do some measurments accourdigly and decide whether it will go in front or in the back.

Saw some 4.2 conversions front and back, would defenatly take the cake to a ricer any day. Have not done much home work on the cost and requierments for such a build yet.

The mk1 golf has been through it all, from RWD to having two motors , you going to have to think really hard to make yours unique.

My opinion....a R32 or R36 motor in a golf is "cooler" than any 5 cylinder, alot of R&D into it, infact you can easily import the mounts, shafts etc...has More power , better sound , everything is better

It's too much effort just for a extra cylinder.

You guys understand me wrong. When i sayd "unique" it does not necessarily mean it has not been done by anyone yet, just the way it would be done. A citi golf with anything but a normal 4 pod would be unique as there aren't many around.

Simply love the ideas. Keep em coming

I am guessing having never built a car using a bike engine but a Hayabusa's 1300cc trumps the usual superbike 1000cc engine, purely based on engine capacity.

Spot on , The golf is light as a car but heavy if compared to a bike , too much load on a smaller motor to be revving 12k+ rpms.

Actually would be torque related yeah

Hayabusas are large heavy bikes made for highway top ends compared to lighter bikes with peakier motors that are made for cut and thrust handling

So moving to a heavier car frame works well on the engine setup

That and there is plenty aftermarket support for turbo applications on the hayabusa motor etc

Forgot to mentioned torque being a big factor , more load means more stress, more heat, rev slower , imagine the small parts having to move the load of the golf at 10k+ rpm's . The topic is very in depth.
