What cluster do you have in the car now? And why a GTi cluster?

Re: want to fit rev counter cluster to my 1.8 carb Mk1
I have the old school cluster with fuel guage in the bottom and temp gauge on top , no rev counter
i want to have a rev counter, and recently acquired this cluster, i think its from a Mk2 Gti as it runs to 260km/h

Re: want to fit rev counter cluster to my 1.8 carb Mk1
And clock on the RHS? Sounds to be the same as my MkI Golf cluster. I am not sure the MkII cluster will fit in a CitiGolf but there were many CitiGolf's that had cluster with tachometers in, I would search for one as it should be easier and simpler to fit.

Re: want to fit rev counter cluster to my 1.8 carb Mk1
Maybe just get an after market rev counter/tacho meter from midas or a similar place and fit that.
Much easier than replacing the complete cluster

Re: want to fit rev counter cluster to my 1.8 carb Mk1
I disagree on the "easier than replacing the complete cluster".
Provided one can find the right type of cluster, it should simply be plug n play. No need to make or change any connections (which an aftermarket rev counter would require). The OE wiring looms already had all the correct signals from the ignition. I simply plugged a rev-counter Mk1 cluster into my 1990 Fox and it works fine.

As Vag fan mentioned, get a citi cluster and plug that in. Much easier and no need to wire anything in
