Good day i drive a 2006 1.6 vw polo hatch and when i put gear no 5 it seems as if its on neutral, what could be the problem

Not enough info.
Is the 5th gear selecting?
Is the bite point on the clutch pedal very high?
Does the car shudder when taking off slowly in 1st gear or in reverse?
If yes then your clutch is most probably slipping/damaged and needs to be replaced.

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on

Or it could be a stripped 5th gear in the box.
