Caddy 1600i lumpy on cold start

Post by Armand »

Hi, wondering if someone can help, our 1600 caddy struggles with cold start, if you press the accelerator when starting it doesnt start and when you just start without pressing the accelorator it start but runs lumpy almost as if there is a plug dead and if you press the accelorator then it gives a cloud of smoke, it only do this for about 15 seconds then it run perfect again.
Any advice?

There are a few ways to test them but they require special tools or a jig..

I guess a simple way would be to remove the rail with the injectors, pressurize the system and check for leaks.. if im not mistaken the mp9 injectors have clips holding the injectors in place so they wouldnt push out from the pressure..

Or before u start it after sitting for a long period, disconnect the injectors then remove the plugs and swing the engine. If u see fuel vapour coming out the plug holes then u know its leaking

start by changing the water temp sender. Then worry about other stuff if it does not fix it.
