Golf mk1 Electrical or computer box problems

Post by Charldon »

What’s up guys I’m wondering if someone could help me
I drive a 2008 Citi golf mk1 1.4i

I think I’m having problems with the electrical or the cars computer box so what happens is The car starts and drives fine and all the electricals are working But as soon As i turn the car off The car it loses power and is completely dead for maybe 10 seconds While the car is restoring its power the cluster gauges and trip meter has lines through it and it makes a weird glitch then when all electrical power eventually comes back Everything has resetted it self.

Sometimes if I listen to music When the car is off it will also lose Power and everything resets again for no reason I have checked all the fuses and the battery is new the terminals are clean and I figure it can’t be a ignition switch and everything is grounded perfectly.

Start by checking the two large fuses behind the battery and also all the earth wire connecting points.

Had similar issues with car sometimes going completely dead, jerking etc.did cleaning of all the earth contact points in the engine bay and soldered a bit on the two fuses next to battery to add more meat. This allowed fuses to have a more snug fit.Issue resolved.Still want to replace them though.
