VW MK1 won't start again

Post by JéanVWmk1 »

Hi all.

I was hoping someone could assist, so my VW MK1 engine ceased and I eventually had it fixed. However now that I got it back it's been struggling to start and I'm not sure if it is because of the new parts.

Earlier today my car started perfectly fine first time round, but now when I wanted to go out again today my car started fine using the choke as I normally do . My engine stalled while idling , I pulled the choke out and started it again . It ran for 10 seconds and died again from a cold start . I tried starting it again and my car just won't turnover . I'm not sure if it may be flooded from too much fuel from trying to start it too many times?

Please help if you can I'd really appreciate it!

Well remove the spark plugs and turn it over by hand first. If it does not then something went wrong.

He says it won't turn over. Neither a temp sender or a carb base plate will cause that.

Turn motor by hand at least 3 times, 19 spanner on crank pulley. If all is well with no audible "knock" check for spark and fuel and timing just to be sure..

If that checks out pour a cap full of petrol into carb and swing...

Does ur car have ac fuel pump or electric?
