Blown Motor Golf MK2

Post by Cliffology »

Howsit going guys,

I bought a 1987 Golf Mk2 some while ago and found it modified a bit, car had an 1800 motor with 276 cams and a free flow system. Car gave a bit of power which i loved, fast forward to 2 weeks back and im on the high way doing maybe 150 then bang, thick white smoke at the back and im stuck, towed the car thinking its a blown gasket (Even though the car didnt overheat). MEchanic comes and strips the motor and the whole thing is just fried, bent valves, hole on the black, the whole lot. Now im in the process of buying a new motor

Was thinking of getting
1. ABF 16V- Dont have enough money so i opted for
2. 2.0L AGG

I would like to know if this is a good buy and what can i do to the motor to get a bit of power out of it. Im new to this and solely depend on my mechanic who luckily is an honest man

AGG is a good motor but it might still leave you wanting more power so try save for the ABF and go with it one time
