Help need - mk2 golf

Post by Ashveer03 »

Howzit guys

Need some help from all the 8v experts..

My friend bought an 87-89 1.6 carb mk2 golf recently, i had a quick look through it today and found some issues with it. Seems to be stock, has a kjet head though. Really dodgy car!

1. The coolant temp sensor (2pin on front coolant flange) both wires are broken off.
2. Oil light flashes now and then on idle
3. After further looking, the heat gauge works even though the wiring is broken wtf well seems as if the heat gauge is reading via the low pressure oil sender at the side of the head. Disconnect the plug and the heat gauge is dead.
4. Found wires cut and joined and a few broken black wires hanging around the engine bay (in the same loom as the oil pressure senders)

Did an oil change because the old oil seemed like $hit. Motor is quite rowdy.
Didnt get a chance to do an oil pressure test yet..

If somebody can please help with a manual or wiring diagrams for this car please, will appreciate it..

Ok nevermind.. for the cold start injector on kjet, "whoever" has probably used a kjet coolant flange on the carb motor

Edit* my bad, the car has a kjet head lol

Sounds like it was converted from k-jet to carb.

Could be, but no signs of any kjet stuff besides the head. Are there any stamps on the block that states 1.6, 1.8, etc? I didnt notice any

If HV engine number, it is carb and then a k-jet head was fitted.

Let us know what is the first two digits.

It is HM, isnt there a mod that needs to be done to the oil journal or something to fit the kjet head to a 1600 block? Or am i mistaken..?

When you fit a crossflow head yes. K-jet no.
