Hi I have a 1800 carb 1995 Jetta.
Got an oilpressure / low oil light.
Filled the oil up and buzzer went away.
After about 200km lifters became noizy and short after the bearings started to cry .
I opened the sump and removed the bearings ( engine still installed )
Found no metal fillings in sump. Bearings where good and gernals shiny .
Replaced the conrod bearings and lubed everything up.
Oilpump seem good ( cleaned ) and refitted.
Got some High milage oil. ( kar 284 000km ..driven by old lady)
Car still does the same after about 10min of running at idle?
Where too now. New Oil pump ? Have new oil filter ( found in stock)

Re: 1800 8v Bearing noize
New oil pump and bearings, but measure crank journals (mains and big ends) for excessive wear. To measure mains you will need to remove crank and motor though. No easy way out.

you can measure the mains clearance with plastigauge without taking the crank out.
