MK1 GOLF, NO SPARK AND NO ELECTRICS

Post by ceejaymk1 »

Hi good day everyone,
Im new here and I really need HELP please, so in short i drove the car on Friday and then not at all the Saturday. When i tried to start on Sunday morning it only swung once and then everything just died on me. Nothing wants to come on, not even the lights or anything :fear:

I've checked everything i can think of like fuses and such but to no avail, so i hope there is somebody that can help.

broken ignition switch. You will have to climb in there with a voltmeter and do some testing

Can you be more specific about phrases like
... "everything just died on me"
... "Nothings wants to come one"
... "not even the lights or anything".

1) Is there any power in the car, e.g. radio, interior light, cigarette lighter, parking lights, brake lights, hazards? If all of the things that don't want to come on, are coupled to ignition (e.g. instrument cluster, headlights, interior ventilator, wipers, horn, reversing lights), then I would concur with panic: it's the ignition switch.

OR

2) Is there no power at all? Then I would concur with Neuk: battery fuses, connections etc.
