vw golf 2 idicators not working

hi my dad has a mk2 CSL 1.6 his indicators recently stopped working. The hazars work and when checking outside the bulbs front and back are flashing. But once in the car the indicator light on the dash does not flash or light up and indicating using the lever on the steering wheel to the right or left. I checked fuses but they all fine but I doubt that can be the issues since the hazards work.

Anything you guys recommend i can check to fix this issue? maybe its the lever on the steering wheel that's the issue?
