However, i believe in doing the right things right...

So patience is key.

Will also relook the throttle body perhaps fit alternative part.

A nice upgrade is if you can get an Audi 500 tb and bolt that on.

Motor looks to be an a decent condition. Were you shaking from excitement? Some pictures a bit blurry.
Huh? Audi 500 has the exact same TB minus the TPS.
it was JUST the mk1 8v gti /cti that had the small throttle body. All the 16v's has the big one already.
Mk2 GTi also had the big one on already.

Apologies, my mistake then. Must have been thinking off the mk1 8V one then.

Yup. Mk1 and cti had a much smaller secondary throttle flap. Mk2 gti and the 16v's all had the big one - same as audi 500.

Thanks guys.

I thought it through again and easiest would be to install my mp9 throttle as the 9a one has brittle plastic parts.

Will make up adapters fir the mp9 throttle body and a block off plate for the idle control 5th injector.

Will buy new clutch as the pressure plate was not removed when selling the 8v. Which i believe is also for the best.

One question: i believe i might have gotten the wrong alternator please see images as the pulleys do not line up.

What would be best to rectify it? ImageImageImage

That alternator looks like it is swapped out and a 8V one. Check the part number on the sticker on the casing to verify amp rating. Can you line up and fit it over the mounting point below where it is now?

My thinking exactly... Its a 90A one.

This is not nice...

Probably wont be able to use the alternator now?

Please advise if the alternator in the image will work? As this is also a 90amp one.ImageImage

Under the aircon bracket is the correct alternator bracket that will line it all up. Take that piece of junk a/c bracket off and you will see what I mean.

The Mk2 and others ran the alternator off of the aircon pulley

Missioner is right

Yes you can use the 90A on your car.

Alternator was driven by the aircon pump. Aircon is missing so the alternator now does not line up as it was never meant to. But you can make it work by moving it and changing the pulley

Will do pickup today for correct alternator, should be in Namibia by the weekend.

Hopefully it will work...

This is the only thing keeping me from starting the car.

Had a look lastnight at the mounting under the aircon bracket.

Seems the cambelt might catch the alternator, however have not dummie fitted it yet will do so this weekend.

Yip... Hopegully... It also helped that i sourced or had most parts in order to fit the engine... A lil research goes a long way.

One question. The alternator if i use the bracket already on the block it looks like the cambelt might be in the way. Hopefully the new one will fit better.

Panic answered your alternator question earlier. Think you will need to dummy fit and measure and possibly space out or change pulley to line all up and have clearance.
