Nope stuck at customs... Will be here only Monday.
They had issue with yhe price being 100rand...
My thoughts exactly... Main mission is to start the engine.

Invoice was needed in order to get the part through customs... No one wanted to bring along the alternator... So had to courier.

Re: 9a and pl mk1 conversion possible
Hi blou pot. I'm in the process of finishing my 9a mk1 conversion. Actually busy doing the exhaust now. I bought the same engine on the same special at Mike's. After returning the 1st engine (came with bent valves) I'm now at the point where I'm struggling with the dizzy/booster bottle issue. What I can tell u from experience right now is that whether u run throttle or standard setup, u will have to modify ur alternator bracket or change the alternator entirely as Mike's removes the a/c pump which allows the alti to work. I've done most of the work myself with the help of some good mates and I can tell u that whatever ur budget is rn, double it and add a bit extra and u will have a stock motor working in ur mk1.
To all the other guys who have done this mod before, could u PLEASE advise how I can over come the dizzy/bottle issue please??
I have std dicktator and have found a complete abf dizzy at Mike's for R1k which still has to be modified in order to work on my setup.at this point I really don't want to buy the abf dizzy and nobody seems to have the Peugeot 207 16v dizzy cap. My options are to change the complete brake booster with mc and reservoir. If anyone could suggest which booster setup would work or alternatives I could use as a dizzy cap, I would be forever grateful as I have spent lots of time(1month) n money getting to this point n all I really want to do is drive my car

Re: 9a and pl mk1 conversion possible
@WP the booster ou can add a few shims/washers to yhe left side of the booster where it ties down. Should give you some space to work on.

Re: 9a and pl mk1 conversion possible
There is a few options to cure the dissy cap problem.
1. Extend the two pipes that fit in the rubber seals.
2. Search for a mk3 brake fluid bottle as the plastic pioes at the bottom is offset.
3. Booster delete.
4. Apart from the Peugeot 207 16v cap, find an Uno cap or FIAT 9936027 9938272 9938359 9944630 9944668 9947326 9950519. Type Distributor Cap. Function Distributor Cap. ALFA ROMEO 9950051 9950519. FIAT CROMA ... or the Renault 5 EP179 cap. NOTE when using the Renault cap, you need to do some modifications by cutting the rotor shaft and bottom of the rotor +_ 3-4mm shorter to be able to use the Renault cap. AC just did this on their 16V dissy
5. Buy ABF dissy and cap.
For some strange reason I have clearance between dissy cap and brake fluid bottle on my KR 16V with Bosch dissy and cap. Could be that motor is a bit more to the right or just because I have the Velocity dash installed with the Velocity brake booster and arm. I also have a full set of 4 poly enigine and gearbox mounts installed from GW Delarey.

I believe i need to cut the aircon bracket to fit the alternator. Or alterntaively cut the alternator bracket on top to move it down somehow.

Is there no other bracket under the aircon bracket?
If all else fails, get a universal alternator, like PapaJo did and swop over the pulley from the original alternator. Mount the alternator downward toward the water pump. It should clear the inlet manifold, but you may need to trim the alternator to get it to miss the radiator.

Re: 9a and pl mk1 conversion possible
Bracjet looks like this, however alterbatir wont fit.
Will try and fit my agg bracket hopefully that will clear.
If all else fails i will mod the existing bracket and find a suitable belt.

Re: 9a and pl mk1 conversion possible
Check here what I did with an universal alternator. You have the water pump pulley and crank v belt pulleys as reference and work from there to measure out for correct spacing to line up.
Check this page of mine and few pages further on.

Re: 9a and pl mk1 conversion possible
8v bracket could work with a lil modification.
As there would be two mounting places.
Will have a look at your thread, not sure if we will find an alternator here.

Re: 9a and pl mk1 conversion possible
That’s strange.
Posting pictures here for you to view.
Ended up insering a 4 mm washer between the front bracket and aircon bracket. Had to shave about 2 mm on the inside of the rear bracket to move alternator forward.
Cut the aircon bracket in half and twisted bottom short part a bit to be able to have the sliding hole open.
6mm Spacer inserted on adjuster bracket
Done
NOTE: This alternator is sitting far forward and had to reposition radiator for clearance.
